What is Reflexology? It is a science which is based on the principle that the internal organs and other structures of the body are mapped out, via reflexes, in the feet, in the hands and in other parts of the body. What happens during a session? I would do an initial consultation with you, ascertaining any problem areas you may be experiencing. During the practical session I initially massage your feet and then pressure point them as I feel for areas which may be out of balance. Areas which are out of balance tend to feel different to the therapists touch, guiding me to work more on that and related areas. By applying pressure I am helping to stimulate your body's own healing energies. I treat you holistically, as an individual person, rather than working on a "one size fits all" principle. What can be helped? Reflexology has a beneficial effect on the systems of the body (the circulatory, respiratory, lymphatic, muscular, nervous, reproductive and digestive systems). So, if for example, someone presents with digestive problems, by working on the circulatory system as well, the blood flow improves and in so doing helps to transport the nutrients more effectively to the various parts of the body. As nutrients are transported more effectively to where they need to go, so absorption generally improves with the beneficial effect to the digestive system. Many people have reported that reflexology has been beneficial to them for a variety of challenges, such as insomnia, stress, digestive disorders, headaches, pmt, other menstrual problems, anxiety, muscular aches and pains .... to name a few presenting problems. What are the costs and session times? £25.00 per session. The first session usually lasts about 65 minutes as I gather information from you, and subsequent sessions last for about 45 minutes. There is no additional cost for the longer first session. How many sessions would benefit me?This will depend upon what is happening to you at the time. Many people find they benefit from a course of 6 sessions, whilst others find that 3 sessions are enough for them. Others like to make it part of their lifestyle, and incorporate it as a part of their preventative and wellbeing maintenance programme. Our practice is based on the south coast of England, in Bournemouth, Dorset.
