Thought Field Therapy (TFT)

Thought Field Therapy was developed by Dr. Roger Callahan. This method works on the basis that a person can sometimes encounter psychological and emotional problems because the energy fields ('Thought Fields') which we each emit and which interpenetrate us (think of auras and the 'ki' or 'chi' energy of martial arts) can become, so to speak, disrupted (the 'technical' word used to describe this phenomenon is 'perturbation') and as a result such 'perturbations' can cause various kinds of difficulties in how a person thinks and how they feel. However, when a person is led by a trained practitioner to tap lightly on certain meridian points located on the upper body these psychological and emotional problems can often be released causing the person to rapidly experience psychological and emotional healing.

TFT is a form of 'Meridian Energy Therapy'. In essence it's based on the same kind of principles by which acupuncture (another scientifically proven meridian-based healthcare approach) reflexology and shiatsu are believed function.

The meridian points addressed by TFT are invisible to the eye – but exponents of Chinese medicine have been aware of their existence for thousands of years. The meridian energy which circulates both through and just outside of our bodies is believed to be akin to electro-magnetic energy (some call it ‘magneto-electric’) which, according to the ancients (as mentioned above) and in line with modern research it seems can become 'disrupted' in various ways.

So, whereas an acupuncturist uses fine needles to help treat problems a TFT practitioner will instead simply guide you to tap on certain of these meridian points located on your own body, in order to facilitate the clearing of the existing problem disruption in your 'thought field' (so that the electro-magnetic energy can begin to function properly again).

The indications are that many psychological and emotional problems have a ‘disrupted energy’ component to them. The field of Thought Field Therapy has built up an impressive body of evidence over 25 years regarding its efficacy, and it is now used widely to treat trauma victims - along with helping people to overcome addictions, phobias and various fears and anxieties. Emotional Freedom Technique / EFT:

A student of Dr Callahan, by the name of Gary Craig worked with Dr Callahan to develop a refined method that could be applied in 'emergency situations' which has since become known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). This method utilises a principle called the 'Basic Recipe' which - basically - involves tapping on a specific set of meridian points for all presenting problems.

Neuro Affective Desensitisation Technique:

After having utilised Meridian Therapy successfully for many years, discovering in the process that excellent results could often be obtained when this approach is utilised in conjunction with NLP and Hypnosis I (Kerin) developed a hybrid method which I've called the Neuro Affective Desensitisation Technique. It has proven on many occasions to be effective in treating a wide range of presenting problems and I now regularly incorporate this special method into my treatment sessions in order to help my clients make the changes they want.
